“Your child’s first visit is the most important dental visit.”
-Dr. Terrence Lau
When should you bring your child in for their first dental visit?
As crazy as it sounds to some, it is recommended by The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and The American Academy of Pediatrics that your child is seen for his/her first dental visit by age one.
Seeing your child at a young age gives him/her the best opportunity to get accustomed and comfortable with dental visits; essentially desensitizing them from fearing the dentist.
What you can expect during your child’s first dental visit?
Your child’s first appointment is essentially an informative visit for parents. During the visit, we will engage in a casual discussion about diet, nutrition, oral hygiene, and the etiology of dental cavities. We will also breakdown down myths and stigmas associated with dentistry. Preventative tips and strategies to reduce your child’s risk of developing dental problems will also be discussed.
Our office dedicates a lot of time during this first visit because we genuinely believe families who adopt our dental philosophy can live a life with of few, if any, dental problems.
The health and safety of our patients and staff has always been a
top priority.
We are actively monitoring real-time reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), California Department of Public Health, California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and local governments. We have re-opened the office and will continue to comply with public health experts’ guidance.
Face Coverings will still be required at our dental office even for people who are fully vaccinated. We are following the CDC guidelines and are committed to providing a safe environment.
